Croatia has surprisingly rich scale of animals and plants. There are wild geese and ducks, storks, cranes, pelicans and flamingos and also important wintering birds from northern Europe. Very special is the species diversity of butterflies. The sea is the home of nearly 380 kinds of fish, mainly anchovies, tuna, mackerel and palamidi. Almost every long cruise on the Adriatic consists of occasional escort of frolicking dolphins.
The original vegetation of the Adriatic is a part of the Mediterranean region, which is typical for always green vegetation and a wealth of plant species.
Grapevine is a widespread crop around the coast. This area is famous especially for particularly high-quality red wines, but also white wines are highly prized.
